Gill Heppell

Gill Heppell, Geordie Gill to her friends, born in Gosforth in the Northeast. She trained as a nurse in Leeds and in 2008 set up her business, PerCurra, in Nottingham.

A successful entrepreneur in the Care and Franchising industry, Gill has won many awards within the Care sector, from The Care Awards, The Chamber of Commerce, Institute of Directors and The Nursing Times. She loves watching others develop their careers and gain success.

It took Gill 7 attempts to achieve a Grade C pass in English Language ‘O’ Level and she has more different grades than people knew existed. She is definitely not a natural reader and the comment, “has she read her book for this year”, is a family joke.

More the practical person, Gill loves the outdoors, sports, travel and entertaining, and in recent years has set herself challenges; a triathlon, swimming the equivalent distance of the English Channel, Coast to Coast walk and cycle. However, this year her challenge was to get massively out of her comfort zone and write a book.  Gill hopes you enjoy her book, and it inspires you to create food to share with friends and capture family recipes to pass on to the new generations of your family.  The amazing memories you can create through food is something that can be talked about forever and never be taken away.
